Now traditional sluggish start to the weekend against Devon essentially determined our fate: their deep game was significantly better than ours, and whilst the D line managed to dig us out of the initial hole, the effort put in to close the gap then meant we were a little short at the end of the game. From that point on, our performances began to improve. Nonetheless, EMO were, once again, our barrier to the bracket we felt we deserved, and while we ran our systems well at times, they had just a little bit more and probably deserved to win. Even a convincing (but not comfortable) victory in our third pool game against BAF wasn't enough to prevent a sorry slide down the rankings.

So, we were banished to the 13-20 bracket, and we went on to destroy everyone we met: EMO 2, Bristol & BAF. The latter was technically the plate final, resulting in the most ignominous MVP award ever received by a LeedsLeedLeeds player, but the game still had to be won against a team with a competent and experienced roster. Hence, we threw everything we had at them, the D line running them into the ground, and expanding our game with deep throws from players that were least expected by the opposition.

With the extended European Finals around the corner, we can be very thankful that it represents an opportunity to save the season and restore some pride in our ability.
